What field work costs in America
We publish the price of trade labor and the price of the software that runs trade businesses — with the source and the date on every number, and nothing behind a signup form.
Two things are hard to find an honest number for: what a tradesperson's time actually costs, and what the software their business runs on actually costs. We track both.
Trade labor rates
Median wages for eight building trades across 49 US metro areas, from Bureau of Labor Statistics data, plus what those wages become on an invoice once burden, overhead and profit are added. The multiplier we use is published, not hidden.

How this site is different
- No signup. Every number is on the page. We do not gate data behind an email address, and we do not intend to.
- The formula is public. Where we estimate rather than measure, we show the arithmetic on the methodology page so you can disagree with it.
- Blanks stay blank. When a vendor does not publish a price, we write that. We do not fill the gap with a guess.
- Dates on everything. A price without a date is not information.
